A Celtic Blessing for the New Year

Lord, You who live outside of time,
and reside in the imperishable moment,
we ask Your blessing this New Year’s Day
upon Your gift to us of time.

Bless our clocks and watches,
You who kindly direct us to observe the
passing of minutes and hours.
May they make us aware of the miracle
of each second of life we experience.

May these our ticking servants
help us not to miss that which is important,
while You keep us from machine-like routine.
May we ever be free from being clock watchers
and instead become those who journey through time.

Bless our calendars,
these ordered lists of days, weeks and months, of holidays, holydays, fasts and feasts-
all our special days of remembering.
May these servants, our calendars, once reserved for the royal few,
for magi and priests, now grace our homes and our lives.

May they remind us of birthdays and other gift-days,

as they teach us the secret that all life

is meant for celebration and contemplation.

Bless, Lord, this new year, each of its 365 days and nights.
Bless us with new moons and full moons.
Bless us with happy seasons and a long life.

Grant to us, Lord, a New year’s gift of a year of love.

Tuesday Noonday Prayer 3.20.12

Holy Wonderful Father,

Thank you for loving us so very dearly.

Thank you for daily loading us with benefits.

You constantly search of ways to do good for us.

And yet somehow we miss Your abundance and favor.

Help us to lift our eyes to You.

You are our source of help.

You are our Deliveror.

You are our High Tower, our Refuge in the storms of life.

Let us draw near to You.

Let us bask in the radiance of Your beauty.

Let us give voice to our praise and worship to You, O Lord.

For You are mighty to behold.

You deliver us from the snare of the enemy.

You exalt us.

You lift us from the miry pit of despair.

You, O Lord, are worthy of our praise and honor.

You, alone are God.

Glory to Your name.

Glory and praise and honor are due You.

Blessed be the name of the Lord forever.

Glory.  Glory.  Glory.

Tuesday Noonday Prayer 11.8.11

Holy Father,

Still our hearts and minds.

The world rushes around us and drags us into its vortex of busy-ness.

We get distracted and distraught by its chaos and destruction.

Still our hearts and minds.

Help us be still and know You are God.

Let us exalt You.

May we reestablish You to the proper perspective of our minds.

You are God.

There is no other.

Your faithfulness endures forever.

The sun still rises and sets as You ordained.

The seasons still come as You timed them.

Gravity stills keeps our feet planted firmly on earth.

Your goodness remains.

You still rule and reign.

We take a deep breath and exhale all the profane-ness of the world.

We inhale deeply of Your refreshing Spirit

And the lights of our souls burn brightly again.

You, O Lord, are God.

Your love for us is unshakeable and undeniable.

Your plans for us are good and full of hope.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Our God loves us and is for us.

How blessed we are because of You O Lord.

May we bless You with every breath.

Amen forever and ever.  (May it forever be so!)

Tuesday Noonday Prayer 9.13.11

Heavenly Father, Creator of all things,

We come to You today acknowledging that You uphold all things with Your Word.

You spoke and You saw.

You speak and You see.

You are the Lord who was, who is and is to come.

You span time with Your wings

Knowing our end at our beginning.

No thing and no one but You know all things.

Nothing catches You by surprise.

You maintain peace because You are in control.

Today, Father, we need to reconnect to that peace.

Help us still our hearts and raging minds.

Let us purposefully place our trust in You

And chose to rest in Your love and goodness.’

Let us trust You completely

And not lean on our own understanding.

Let us accept Your offer to direct our paths

Through this life with its cares and trials.

Let us lean solely upon Your strength and wisdom.

Let us look fully into Your loving countenance

And allow the things of this earth to fall from our hands and minds.

You are Truth.

You are Peace.

You are Life.

You are more precious than all silver and gold.

Today we confess our need and desire of You.

Hear and grant this prayer through the power and name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Tuesday Noonday Prayer 8.23

God of power and of might.

You who rule the dark of night.

Hear our prayer.

Our world has gone awry.

Death and doom are all around.

It seems that all is lost.

But then we hear Your Word:

“You are still God

Working all things for our good.

You still rule and reign.

Good always triumphs over evil.

Love never fails.”

So still our quaking hearts.

Stir up strength in mind and body.

Let us shake off the evil reports

And put our trust in You.

You have plans for our good,

To give us hope and peace.

So praise be to the God who reigns,

Who loves, provides, heals and protects.

God shall triumph and His host with Him.

As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

Tuesday Noonday Prayer 8-2

Heavenly Father,

Today is a gift from You for our enjoyment.

Then why do so many struggle?

What way have we missed?

You are El Shaddai, God who is more than enough.

You are I AM, the Source of all things.

You are our Healer, our Provider, our Source of Abundant Life.

Then why do we live below Your purpose for our lives?

The fault is not in You; therefore it lies within us.

You sent Your Son Jesus to demonstrate the way to live.

You gave His life to redeem us from the curse.

He left us with great promises and authority.

Enlighten us.

Renew our minds.

Metamorph* us from caterpillars to butterflies.

Clear the old way of thinking to embrace Your Kingdom principles and laws.

Show us where we err.

Light our paths.

Create in us new hearts and attitudes

That we may glorify You, Lord of lords and King of kings.

Birth a new realm within us.

Awaken within each of us the divine spark of Your Image.

Let us seek Your kingdom, Your greatness within us.

O Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us not fear the chrysalis of change

But embrace the process knowing we encounter You

And will become who You created us to be.

For Your glory and honor.

*Metamorphosis is a biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth or hatching, involving a conspicuous and relatively abrupt change in the animal’s body structure through cell growth and differentiation. Some insects, amphibians, molluscs, crustaceans, Cnidarians, echinoderms and tunicates undergo metamorphosis, which is usually accompanied by a change of habitat or behavior.     Source:

Tuesday Noonday Prayer 5-31

Loving Heavenly Father,

We thank You for Your many benefits and blessings upon our lives.

We thank You for Your unfailing, unchanging love for us.

Father, give us knowledge of Your love for us.

Help to understand that Your love cannot be bought or earned.

It is free and unconditional.

It is eternal  and constant.

It is the basis for all Your actions toward us

Grant us today, the revelation of Your love for us.

Help us realize Your love surpasses our love for our children and loved ones.

Our love is only a shadow of Your real love.

Input that knowledge and revelation into us that we may learn to live loved

Instead of as needy beggars trying to win Your favor.

Without real knowledge of Your love for us, we are undone.

We reject Your moves toward out of self-pity and unworthiness.

We sabotage ourselves by trying to earn what is a free gift.

We live less than You intend.

Father, today, our greatest need is to gain greater revelation

of Your love for us, to us and in us.

Holy Spirit, bring us that revelation that we may know God, our Father,

And worship Him in truth and in the spirit of love.

Let Your love rain down upon us.

Let our thirsty souls drink deeply of Your love.

Let our thirst be quenched and our lives fulfilled.

We thank You that perfect love casts out fear.

Love heals all.

We are truly loved by You, our Father.

MARCH 8, 2011

Heavenly Father, Creator of the universe,

Divine Designer of unique humans to reflect Your glory.

We create like You with our actions and words.

We love because You first loved us.

We enjoy the days You created for us.

The work of our hands prospers because You ordain it.

We function by faith in things unseen.

We walk according to Your word.

You are intimately acquainted with our every thought.

Nothing about us catches You by surprise.

You know our ability to overcome and persevere.

Though we are made from dust, we are created to be Your temple.

You desire to dwell in us lovingly and intimately.

You long to share in our joys and sorrows.

You desire to guide our steps and paths.

How awesome You are, O Lord!

How magnificent You are.

How beautiful You are.

We worship You in this moment of stillness

Because we know You are God!

God of the Universe, Holy and Omnipotent,

Why do You care so much about us?

Why are we the focus of Your love?

You pointed to Job as an example of righteousness.

You spoke with Moses face to face.

You called Abraham Your friend.

You sent Your Son to intercept our punishment.

Are we not clay and dust?

Aren’t we  filled with our selfish needs?

Don’t we fall short of our potential daily?

answer:   Yes, My children, you do.

But I see in you the potential for greatness.

I see in you the ability of good to overcome evil.

I see you as precious gems glittering against a dark cloth.

I chose you.

I created you.

I sustain you.

I uphold you with My mighty right hand.

You are capable of reflecting My glory.

You are capable of carrying My love throughout creation.

You are endued with power over evil and selfishness.

Oh, My precious ones, if only you knew your potential.

You would run faster.

You would stand straighter.

You would do the great things I desire for you to do.

Precious child, today, see yourselves through My eyes.

Created in My image, designed for great and good work,

To live in peace, joy and love with one another.

It is possible because I have decreed it.

Accept My love.

Accept My vision.

Accept Me.

And live.

So be it!

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty.

There is no one like You.

You alone are God.

You control the sun, moon and stars.

The earth and its fullness is Yours.

You set kings upon their thrones.

You ordain praise from the mouths of babes.

You create light and darkness, shadow and contrast.

These are the needful elements of masterpieces.

You design times of growth and testing

To make us stronger and better,

To chisel away those things and attitudes

Which do not enhance our life purpose.

Today, O Lord, let us not ask for deliverance from our trials

But let us ask what is Your purpose for us in them.

Let us quickly release the things holding us back, weighing us down,

That we may walk more quickly through the valley of shadow

Into the brilliance of light, reflecting Your love, faith and hope.

Give us this day the needful things.

Forgive our sins – whining and complaining about perceived lack.

Protect us from wayward thoughts and bad attitudes.

Renew our minds, our hearts, our lives

That we may glorify You, Lord of lords and King of kings,

Who Was and Who Is forevermore the Creator of masterpieces.

Heavenly Father,

Emmanuel, God With Us.

That is Your desire and passion.

You long for a deep abiding relationship with us.

Yet we fail to pause and consider the magnitude of Your offer.

We rush about our days, busy with things and man-made schedules.

Today Father, we pause to consider what life with You holds.

Every longing of our hearts are satisfied fully in Your Presence.

The things of earth lose their enticement when we consider Your beauty.

Love, joy, peace and righteousness heal the hurts and fill up the wounds.

We are healed and made whole and holy in Your presence.

You give only good and perfect gifts.

Everything we search for and labor for is found in abiding with You.

Today, Father, forgive our waywardness and callousness toward You.

Today, Father, restore the right way of thinking of You and Your kingdom.

Today, Father, draw us near to You.

Still our hearts and mind.

Help us be still that we may hear Your whispers of love and comfort.

Today Father, we accept Your offer to leave behind the lower things

To embrace life – abundant, heavenly, divine life  – with You.

Thank You, loving Father, God With Us!

Selah!  (pause to think on this)

Ignatius Loyola

Teach us, O Lord,

To serve You as You deserve,

To give and not count the cost,

To fight and not heed the wounds,

To toil and not seek for rest,

To labor and not ask for any reward

Save that of knowing we do Your will.

Your plans for us are always filled with hope,

Purposed to fulfill our deepest desires.

Then why do we live so alien to that?

Why are we so far from what You desire for us?

Have we been lured away from the best by what seems good?

Have we settled for less than what even we believe we deserve?

Father, help us!

Open our eyes to see Your great truth.

Change the way we view life and ourselves

That we may align ourselves with Your plan for us.

You love us immeasurably and unconditionally.

Your love gives us freedom of choice.

Today, Father, open our eyes to Your desires for us.

Show us that following You brings us to our desired outcome.

Free us from the tyranny of our own agendas

That we may walk into the abundant life You designed for us.

Today, Father, we come seeking You and Your ways for us.

Grant us glimpses of You, glimpses of glory

That will forever change the way we view the baubles of this world.

Today, Father, teach us to live in harmony with You.

May You Be Blessed

May you be blessed with all things good.
May your joys, like the stars at night, be too numerous to count.
May your victories be more abundant than all the grains of sand
on all the beaches on all the oceans in all the world.
May lack and struggle only serve to make you stronger
and may beauty, order and abundance be your constant companions.
May every pathway you choose lead to
that which is pure and good and lovely.
May every doubt and fear be replaced by a deep abiding trust
as you behold evidence of a God’s Power all around you.
And when there is only darkness and the storms of life are closing in…
May the light at the core of your being illuminate the world.
May you always be aware you are loved beyond measure
and may you be willing to love unconditionally in return.
May you always feel protected and cradled in the arms of God,
like the cherished child you are.
And when you are tempted to judge,
may you be reminded that we are all one
and that every thought you think reverberates across the universe,
touching everyone and everything.
And when you are tempted to hold back,
may you remember that love flows best when it flows freely…
and it is in giving that we receive the greatest gift.
May you always have music and laughter
and may a rainbow follow every storm.
May gladness wash away every disappointment,
may joy dissolve every sorrow…and may love ease every pain.
May every wound bring wisdom and every trial bring triumph
and with each passing day may you live more abundantly
than the day before.
May you be blessed.
And may others be blessed by you.
This is my heartfelt prayer for you.
May you be blessed.

Saint Patrick’s Prayer

This prayer is often called “St. Patrick’s Breastplate” because of those parts of it which seek God’s protection.  It is also sometimes called “The Deer’s Cry” or“The Lorica”.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through the belief in the threeness,
Through the confession of the oneness
Of the Creator of Creation.

I arise today
Through the strength of Christ’s birth with his baptism,
Through the strength of his crucifixion with his burial,
Through the strength of his resurrection with his ascension,
Through the strength of his descent for the Judgment Day.

I arise today
Through the strength of the love of Cherubim,
In obedience of angels,
In the service of archangels,
In hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In prayers of patriarchs,
In predictions of prophets,
In preaching of apostles,
In faith of confessors,
In innocence of holy virgins,
In deeds of righteous men.

I arise today
Through the strength of heaven:
Light of sun,
Radiance of moon,
Splendor of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of wind,
Depth of sea,
Stability of earth,
Firmness of rock.

I arise today
Through God’s strength to pilot me:
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to save me
From snares of demons,
From temptations of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
Afar and anear,
Alone and in multitude.

I summon today all these powers between me and those evils,
Against every cruel merciless power that may oppose my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man’s body and soul.

Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me abundance of reward.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the threeness,
Through confession of the oneness,
Of the Creator of Creation.
