God’s Goodness Grows in 2005

2005

The IHRA held their annual awards banquet the 2nd weekend of January in Cincinnati, OH. God Speed Ministry presented a Bible to each of the officials. This was their first official act as the new ministry for IHRA.

God Speed Ministry gave Bibles away at each event that year. God has said that His word will not return to Him without accomplishing the purpose for which He sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)

Renee Bingham sat down with Aaron Polburn, IHRA’s Vice President, at the IHRA national event in Ontario, Canada. She excitedly shared all God had laid on her heart.

“God Speed Ministry would like to have children’s church also on Sundays and a youth outreach on Thursdays at national events which would include a concert, racer testimonies and food,” Renee shared with Aaron.

“Whoa!” Aaron laughed as he continued. “These are all great things but IHRA needs time to heal. You need to walk before you run. At this point, we are comfortable giving you 30 minutes on Sunday mornings.”

Renee was disappointed but understood where Aaron and IHRA were. She also knew what God had laid on her heart. She simply kept it before God in prayer knowing God changes the heart of kings.

God Speed Ministry did 34 events for IHRA that year. Matt Zapp, Floyd & Diana West joined God Speed Ministry as chaplains early in 2005. Steve & Brenda Corker were the national worship leaders. The Home Mission Fund was officially established to help our race family with needs. Donnie Crowder received $351.00 that year. Hurricane Katrina hit in September, 2005. God Speed Ministry gave all offerings in September, $2,193.42 to Hurricane Katrina Relief.

At the last event of the year, the IHRA Torco World Finals at Rockingham Dragway, God Speed Ministry was allowed to have 2 worship services, 7:15 & 8:30 in the Torco Tent. The early service was added per the request of the racers and vendors who needed time for God before their day started. Yea God!

That event also debuted children’s church at the 8:30 service led by Christy Rice. Our ‘more than enough’ God had changed the heart of the king and added a 2nd service. He loves to lavish His goodness on those whose hearts are set on building His kingdom on earth.
