Walk With Me

God is a spiritual being and those of us who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. We pretty much get the truth part, but what about the spirit? Lately, I’ve been learning about developing my spiritual senses, which mirror our physical senses, only in the spiritual realm. With the eyes of my heart I can receive vision from God and with the ears of my heart I can hear His voice. I am learning to use these and the other senses (which I’ll probably share more on later) to draw closer to God. 

On Tuesday, while using my spiritual senses, the scripture “He daily loads us with benefits” (Psalm 68:19 KJV), came to mind. I saw myself happily pushing my wheel barrow in the line to pick up my load of daily benefits, beautiful red boxes tied with white bows. I took my load and started away.

I sensed sadness in Abba (Father God). I stopped and looked back.

“You can take your load and go……….. Or you can spend the day walking with Me and we can experience them together,” He offered.

I paused and considered His words. I decided to stay.

“It gives Me great pleasure to share these with you along the way. It gives Me great pleasure.”

Then I saw myself and others who had previously chosen the opposite route and taken our daily benefits and walked away. We went away from God and began to tear open each gift. The scene from Christmas morning and night came to my mind. The children and adults tore open present after present, not taking the time to savor and appreciate the gift or giver. We adults actually pushed the kids from one gift in order to open the next, wanting to get it done. Children innately want one gift at a time. They savor, enjoy, are in the moment. 

I turned from this scene to look back at my place beside Abba, with only a doll tucked under my arm. My hand was in His and we were on an exciting journey to discover the wonderful benefits awaiting us as we made our way through the day. There was a sense of complete joy and excitement.

I looked again at those who sat amid the open boxes, having finished opening them all. There was a sense of gluttony, entitlement, discouragement and “now what?” and “is that all?”

There was no joy.

I’m glad Papa showed me a different way. 

Now you know a different way. Exercise the eyes of your heart and ask Abba to show you how to see and live as Jesus did.
